Guma Valley Water Company has completed installation of a line valve on the 22 inches transmission pipe line at Rasmusson Street after 22 hours of arduous work under the July rain.
The rationale for the installation of the line valve is to ensure that water supply rationing to each Guma zone is strictly maintained and that no other zone receives water supply when it is not their scheduled time.
On Monday 26th July, Guma put out a public notice that water supply will be shut down to areas from Lumley to Wellington to make way for the valve to be installed on Tuesday 27th July.
The installation work was initially estimated to last for 8 hours but draining of the pipe line turned out to be a tough task.
However, the dedicated team of staff on site worked all day and night; and the work was completed around 7:00am on 28th July 2021.
